About Me

My name is Victoria and I am a youth services librarian at a small public library in The Big Sky State. I have been at my position for 1 1/2 years, but I have learned sooo much from other blogging librarians that I decided I would start a storytime blog of my own. I do one Storytime per week for ages 3-5.  Although, all children under 5 are welcome and I will adjust what I have planned to what ages that attend.

My love for reading probably started when I was very young and my aunt would come visit us and read, "The Little Store on the Corner" by Alice P. Miller before going to bed. My love for early literacy grew tenfold when I became a mother. I shared the joy of reading with my son by reading to him frequently as a baby. I loved seeing him pointing out letters. He especially loved to point out the letter D, since his name started with D and I emphasized the letter in every book we read. It was when he was around two years old and he quit playing with his books and pointing out letters that I knew something was off. My little boy was retreating socially and reacting abruptly with everyone and every thing he once loved. When he was 3 years old we took him to see a specialist and he was diagnosed with Autism. After a little while, he came back around to loving books and could read by the time he was 4 (even before he would have an actual conversation with me). He is now in middle school and and still an avid reader.

I tend to read a lot of juvenile and YA books, but my all-time favorite storybook is "The Salamander Room" by Anne Mazer.
